The 4th of July

My mom and I spent the morning on the porch, in our Jammie's, drinking coffee. For breakfast we ate local Robinhood Meetinghouse blueberry biscuits, topped with fresh strawberries and homemade whipped (frothed) cream. Our day could have ended there and we would of been satisfied. Instead, my sister Clementine joined us, and coffee was traded for sparkles as we prepped for the next meal. We made our favorite pasta salad and my mom's famous Grey Havens Inn blueberry crisp. The Stevens came over to watch the Five Islands parade and we all ate more food. By 7:00 pm it was storming and my mom and I were in bed, reading with red wine. It was a good day.

While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,
Let us swear allegiance to a land that's free,
Let us all be grateful for a land so fair,
As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer.
God bless America,
Land that I love
