A few things...

That made my week.

Dagny helping me "cook."

Seaside for my birthday weekend. We ate a lot of spring rolls and smoothies to try and make up for all of the birthday donuts I had.

Dagny getting to have a beach day with the Wilsons gang. She hasn't stopped saying  "yuuuuya" ever since.

The spring rolls I've been making have been so yummy!

Dagny walking around in her make shift bibs.

The exquisite flowers and donuts Mark sent me on my birthday.

Rearranging Dagny's room meant a new spot for this cowhide and I'm in love.

Waking up with Dagny

This morning Dagny slept in till 8:45. "Moly moly" as Dagny would say (holy moly). I think I remember hearing a squawk at 7:00 and rolled over to wait until it turned into "Maaaaama, maaaama" But then I woke up at 8:43 and I realized she was still asleep! Woohoo!  She woke up minutes later and I couldn't have been more excited to have a quiet morning with her, feeling extra refreshed. She looked as shocked as I was about sleeping for so long. Her morning pillow face, messy hair, and extra big eyes just blinked at me. She likes to do a few stretches before I get her out of her crib. Sometimes I'll come in to find her looking out the windows. She then rests her head on my shoulder while I take her into the kitchen. Our mornings of going back into my bed seem to be gone. She points to the fridge and says "milk" and then watches me make coffee. I usually put on some music and she eats her oatmeal so happily. Every time my phone buzzes she's yells "Daddy!" My house was extra messy since we were at the beach house all weekend, so while she ate I was busy tidying up. Sometimes I just sit by her and drink my coffee while she cracks her self up chatting away. She'll stand up and say "aaah done, ahh cwean" and I'll get her down. Lately, if I don't follow her, she'll come grab my hand or foot and pull it in the direction she wants to go and say "mama? come on."

It's my favorite thing to sit on the floor of her room and watch her play. It has been since she was 2 months old. I'd lay her on her back and just watch as she grabbed her toes or played with her little gym. As she got older it was watching her try and scoot across a blanket to her object of interest. Then crawling, and walking, now its twirling and dancing or looking out the windows and saying "BIRD! Tweet!" Or in out of her closet pretending to be a lion and scaring me. Mornings with Dagny in her little room are gold.

This morning, I was already feeling like a busy bee, so I decided to break her crib down into a toddler bed. We go to Toronto in two weeks and Mark already has a little room and toddler bed set up waiting for her. I figured now is as good a time as ever to get her transitioned. Dagny was a cute little helper and kept saying "key, key" every time I used the tools. The second the side rail was off she was beaming! She ran and threw herself onto the bed. We spent the rest of our morning moving things around in her room while she sat, played, or stood on her new bed. We will see how the next few mornings go, but I doubt we will be sleeping in until 8:45 and I presume I will have a little buddy crawling into my bed at some point. It became clear our morning was over and Dagny was ready for a nap, so I put her down fully anticipating a struggle and on going battle of putting her back into bed. But she didn't make a peep. She laid down under her blanket and is still sleeping, an hour and a half later. We'll see how tonight goes!

Beach with Dagny

I'm going to start a series called "Beach with Dagny." It will probably consist of mostly pictures. But looking back through my blog, some of my favorite posts were from "Waking up with Dagny" and comparing them to each other as the mornings changed. With spring and summer coming, I can't wait to watch this little girl spend her days at the beach. Enjoy!
