"The things that every other dad and mother dream"

We took Mark to the airport bery early this morning. Dagny got a bath as soon as we made it home and has been sleeping ever since. I think her cheeks are tired from all of the smiling she did yesterday. My heart is full thinking about our little family of three. Celebrating her yesterday was a joy. Mark and I had a busy day with setting up for the party and sharing Dagny with his parents. Before it all began, we took our coffee to the beach with Dagny. The water was crystal clear as far as you could see and calm without a single wave. We went swimming, we sat on the sand with our legs in the water and we watched Dagny crawl in and out of the ocean, and then up and down the sand. We were the only ones on the beach for miles except for a couple of paddle boarders that painted the horizon. The air was cool with a warm breeze. It was peaceful and it was heaven. Neither of us took our phones, so I have this perfect image and memory all to myself.

The birthday party was a hit! Dagny and Remi were a king and a queen in their best dress and best spirits. Everything was pretty and sweet and yummy. I forgot my camera cord at Mary Kate's, so pictures will have to wait. Until then, look how sweet Dagny and Mark are. I love them.

My Baby!

Dagny has brought us the happiest and fastest year of our lives. Over the years, as our family grows, I will always cherish the time we had with only Dagny. She taught us how to be more than Mark and Emma in love with each other, she taught us how to be a Mama and a Daddy. My sweet little buddy with her daddy's contagious smile and crinkly eyes; my feisty spirit and sassy side. She has filled my heart, arms and soul especially while Mark's away. I wish I could go back and repeat every moment and every stage with her again, but at the same time I can't wait to watch this little baby grow. Grow into a little girl, a little lady, a grown girl and a kind woman.

It's hard enough for me as it is to narrow down pictures. Going through a years worth is impossible.

a life that's good

Mark came home for a couple weeks to recover from his surgery and we soaked up every minute with him. He was such a trooper. For the first week he was on crutches and in a leg brace while watching Dagny. She is everywhere and into everything. He would send me pictures of her "paths of destruction" all day. When I'd get home Mark would be exhausted, but so happy and in love with Dags. My mornings off were cozy and cheerful with music, coffee and pancakes. When we were tired of cooking, we went to the Bay and ate outside before it was too hot to breathe. We made it to playgrounds, splash pads and even the beach with crippled Mark.

"Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!"

Mark's injury has caused him to miss the entire season. First it was a little set back and a couple of weeks. Then it was a bigger set back and a lot more weeks. It was all better and only a couple of days till we'd get to watch him play. Then it was wasn't. Seriously, its been a frustrating roller coaster like that and has called for a lot of patience. He finally got cleared to play and had been training for a couple weeks. He got ANOTHER mri to be safe, but it revealed that his quad had torn completely. Yes it was devastating, but it felt like the roller coaster had finally ended and we could focus on recovering. Mark getting to come home for a couple weeks also helped swallow this pill. So as the season continues and Mark stays in Toronto doing rehab, we are rejoicing in the Lord. Dagny has changed so much in the last month. It has been a really great stage and I am so happy that Mark got to be with her for so much of it.
